While looking back on the year we have just had, I wanted to write something about the importance of Giving. I didn’t mean to write a poem, but it just started out that way and I kept going.
Hope you enjoy it.
I have a tail to tell
One I know will do
It’s about 4 people
One might be like you
It seems quite fitting
That I rhyme this to you
For this festive season
Makes this lesson more true
Person one, so innocent
For we were all this new
“I believe in Santa”
This was once you?
Full of joy and happiness
We trusted those who knew
That the big bag of presents
Was all for you.
The magic was real
As you celebrated when due
Everything you wished for
Was given to you
Don’t fret, this joy was innocent
As you did not know
That the people who gave to you
Learnt something you soon will show.
This story now takes a turn
That i tell you about person two
“I don’t believe in Santa”
Yes, I’m sorry but it’s true
The magic fades away
And you felt sad and blue
For the big bag of presents
Was now just a few
But here seeds the lesson of Christmas
It’s what I know as true
(As there is still some magic for you)
You were shown the act of giving
And slowly it grows on person two
Some years move on
And it’s now time for person three
“You are now Santa”
The role reversed for free
Alas you learnt the lesson
So pure and real the key
You understand that giving
Is A Joy for person three
This newfound joy keeps growing
As the years go by and by
For every time you give to others
You understand your why.
You share this time with loved ones
And as long may it be
But it might just happen
That some say goodbye to person three
It’s not that you loose feeling
Or forget the gift that brings
For when you give to others
It makes us ding a lings
But there comes a time for person four
And I’m sorry for some of you
It’s when “You look like Santa”
And It’s time others take care of you
But its now that you reflect
That it dawns on you
That you were part of Christmas
When you thought person two
It’s Now you feel accomplished
You know deep down its true
You gave the gift of giving
And that feels good to you
